• Begun with a 19 year career playing professional football as centre or inside forward position, thereafter leading into a 29-year career managing professional football teams around the world.
• Led a highly successful career as a player, holding the record being the only player to ever score over 100 goals in both England and Italy. In 2005, was named Charlton Athletic’s best overseas player for the years played at the club. Also holding the record for the highest transfer fee involving a British club at the time when being traded to Italian team Sampdoria.
• Retired as a player in 1967 for Charlton Athletic Club to go straight to manager of that club. In the second season in charge, the team finished 3rd in Second Division.
• In 1975, after having moved to North America, brought the Tampa Bay Rowdies to the North American Soccer League (NASL) Championship within first year of coaching them, next year was named NASL Coach of the Year and also won the NASL Championship in 1978 while heading the New York Cosmos club.
• In 1985, joined KASMA Football Club as Head Coach. Successfully showed ability to identify and motivate players of all cultures and nationalities. Motivated a group of individuals into a disciplined team and won the League Championship for the first time in the history of the club. Won the Championship again the following year, four points ahead of the nearest rivals.
• Responsible for taking the team to the finals of the Amir Cup, all this was done with the players of the previous year.
• In 1987, responsible for bringing the first GULF Championship to Kuwait and winning.
• In the last 21 years of coaching, accomplished 12-1st Position Championship wins, 8-2nd’s and 1-3rd.
• Holding a unique record, as both a player and a coach, of having handled some of the best and most difficult players, coaches and managers, and have proven to be successful with every team coached.
